Bowne House is excited to once again participate in the New York Landmarks Conservancy’s Sacred Sites Open House. This annual event celebrates “the social and cultural importance of New York State’s amazing ecclesiastical buildings.”
Bowne House (built c. 1661) was an early place of worship for the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) in Flushing. Visitors will learn about the history of the home and its residents, including family patriarch John Bowne’s courageous stand for liberty of conscience in New Netherland.
