Bowne House Collection sampler to be conserved with Conservation Treatment Grant funding.
A $7,500 grant from the Greater Hudson Heritage Network (GHNN) and the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) will allow the Bowne House Historical Society to conserve three 19th-century unframed textile samplers in the museum’s collection. These samplers will be conserved by the Textile Conservation Workshop in South Salem, New York.
Bowne House is one of 35 organizations in New York State to receive a portion of the $236,963 allocated to stabilize and preserve objects and works of art in New York museums, history centers, and cultural organizations.
The NYSCA/GHHN Conservation Treatment Grant Program is made possible with funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature. Generous support has also been provided by the Robert David Lion Gardiner Foundation for conservation treatment projects in Nassau & Suffolk counties and New York City; and the Coby Foundation for textile conservation treatment projects.
